New development team has big plans

Tricia White, former associate director for Career Services at Emory University School of Law, has joined the UM School of Law as the assistant to the dean for development.

White is a native of Atlanta and holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. She served in the Army JAG Corps at the Defense Appellate Division in Falls Church, Va., and then worked at a Washington, D.C., firm doing civil and administrative litigation.

She later returned to Atlanta to work as an executive recruiter before taking the position at Emory University School of Law.

Joining White in a development role for the law school is Tim Walsh, senior associate director of alumni affairs. Walsh has taken on a new role as the law school’s associate dean for development in addition to his current position with the Alumni Association. The dual appointment will place Walsh over fundraising and alumni relations for the School of Law, an important role as the school moves forward with a major capital fundraising campaign.

Walsh, a Memphis native, holds two degrees from Ole Miss, a bachelor’s degree in public administration in 1983 and a master’s degree in education in 1991. He has been with the university more than 16 years.

Walsh said the objectives for reaching alumni remain the same. “The goals will always be to involve more alumni and friends in the activities of the law school,” he said, “whether that is making a gift or being involved in a class or participating in the Moot Court program or attending reunions and other alumni functions.”
