Variable Expenses Connected With The Program Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from Cambridge. The cost of this airfare, which can of course vary greatly, as well as related ground transportation, must be included when calculating the total cost of the summer program. In addition, the cost of meals in the evenings and on weekends, as well as weekend travel, books and miscellaneous expenses must all be taken into account. While it is difficult to generalize, students in recent summers have typically spent an average of $9,000-$10,000. You should keep in mind that the cost of goods and services in the United Kingdom and adjacent nations tends to be much higher than in the United States. In April 2009 everyone enrolled in the program will receive a packet containing information about suggested travel arrangements to Cambridge, what to pack for a summer living in England, and what to expect during your stay at Downing College.
