Commissioner ( Miss. ) to the National Conference of Commissioners on \ Uniform State Laws. Elected member of the American Law Institute. Fellow, Mississippi Bar Foundation. Fellow of the Young Lawyers of the Mississipp Bar. Admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States and the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits. He is included in Who's Who in American Law. Courses taught: Criminal Law, Evidence, Criminal Procedure, Children in the Legal System, and Juvenile Courts Seminar.

Author of three books: Children in the Legal System, 3d ed. (2004) (with Scott, Wadlington, and Whitebread); Children's Rights and the Law (1987) (with Schwartz) and Rights of Juveniles: The Juvenile Justice System, (2006 ed).; author of numerous articles on juvenile, family and children's law.

Dean Davis is married to Carolyn P. Davis. They have two children: Samantha and Sarah, and two grandchildren, Jeremiah and MaryCarolyn.

Interests: Equestrian sports (dressage), running, reading, and travel
