KRISTI L. Bowman
Visiting Professor of Law
Assistant Professor of Law, Drake University (on leave 2006-2007)

Professor Bowman joins the faculty as a visitor for the 2006-2007 academic year, on leave from Drake University where she is an assistant professor of law.  Prior to teaching at Drake, Professor Bowman practiced law at Franczek Sullivan, P.C. in Chicago, where she represented school districts before state and federal courts and successfully argued school law cases twice before the Seventh Circuit.  She also served as a federal judicial clerk for the Honorable George G. Fagg, United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.  While at Duke University, Professor Bowman was Articles Editor for Duke Law Journal and Associate Executive Editor for Duke Journal of Gender Law and Policy.

Professor Bowman teaches Property, Education Law, and Civil Rights.  Her legal research focuses primarily on the intersection between constitutional law, civil rights, and educational policy.  Currently, she is writing about legal and social issues implicated by high school science teachers providing instruction about evolution, creationism, and intelligent design.  Additionally, Professor Bowman is the co-author of the forthcoming second edition of Power, Privilege and the Law: A Civil Rights Reader.
