CLEO 2012 Six-Week Pre-Law Summer Institute
The Council on Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO) is a project of the American Bar Association Fund for Justice and Education. It is governed by a Council composed of members of the following organizations: Association of American Law Schools, American Bar Association, Hispanic National Bar Association, National Asian Pacific American Bar Association, National Bar Association, National Native American Bar Association, Law School Admission Council, and Society of American Law Teachers. The mission of CLEO is to increase opportunities for students of color and economically disadvantaged students to obtain a legal education and join the legal profession.
Since 1968, CLEO has annually sponsored intensive six-week pre-law summer institutes, designed to introduce students to the skills, knowledge, and values essential to their success in law school, including self-directed learning, legal reasoning, writing, and the Socratic method of teaching. The institutes, sponsored and staffed in cooperation with participating law schools, expose students to the rigors of the first-year curriculum of law school. The summer institute also serves to evaluate a participant?s potential to succeed in law school
