Law students are eager to enhance their academic performance with practical experience under the guidance of practicing attorneys. A number of employers observe law clerks over the summer months to judge their potential as associates, particularly because it is advantageous to hire students who are already familiar with a firm's office procedures and standards.
The majority of our students desire to clerk full-time in the summers, beginning with the summer following their first year of law school and again after their second year. Many of our students clerk during the school year as well with local attorneys and law firms.
First-year law students may be interviewed for summer clerkships after December 15 and are generally interviewed on campus during the spring recruiting dates. Second-year students may be interviewed during both the fall and spring sessions.
