Today, the Lamar Order can boast of support for scholarships, the Law Library, the Moot Court Board, the Mississippi Law Journal, the UM Lawyer magazine and faculty research, among other areas. While the accomplishments of the Lamar Order over the years are substantial, no organization can continue to succeed by standing still. That is why on July 1, 2005, the Lamar Order began overseeing all annual gifts to the School of Law to encourage more alumni participation. Alumni and friends can now choose the level of support they are most comfortable with and give accordingly. All gifts, from $1 to $25,000+ will be listed annually in the UM Lawyer magazine.

All donors who contribute $1,000 or more per year to the Law School will be invited to our spring Lamar Order breakfast during Law Weekend and our annual dinner at the Mississippi Bar Convention. For graduates from the last ten years, the annual contribution required is $500. All of our original Founding Members will also be invited to these events.

Gifts to the Lamar Order can be designated to existing endowments or to any area of the Law School , but unrestricted gifts are the most beneficial. They allow the Dean to cover the most pressing needs as they arise. Gifts can be made online using a credit card or by sending a check to The University of Mississippi Foundation . Gifts of appreciated stock are also welcome. All gifts are tax deductible.
