 ROBERT
A. WEEMS , Professor
of Law
“I believe that the evidence is overwhelming
that students at this law school can receive a legal education
that will enable them to compete successfully in any arena
they choose to enter. This evidence is the presence of our
students in the offices of some of the best law firms in
the state, region and nation, and on the benches of state
and federal courts. In addition to having bright minds, our
students are fine people. It is a pleasure to teach them
and to associate with them.”

Jack W. Nowlin, Associate Professor
of Law
“One of
the most rewarding aspects of being a professor is teaching
students that the heart of the law is argument and counterargument.
We teach them that they must be able to do more than defend
the positions they actually hold: They must be able to shift
gears and defend positions with which they disagree. Only
then do they really understand their own position, and only
then have they mastered the advocacy skills essential to
law.”

of Law
“Shirley
Chisolm once stated that ‘service
is the rent you pay for life on this earth.’ Being
a lawyer offers many opportunities to serve others, whether
in your local, national or international community or to
your individual clients. What makes The University of Mississippi
School of Law truly unique is its commitment to providing
our students with the best intellectual and social skills
to truly be of service to others. The law school faculty
is committed to providing an instructional atmosphere that
provokes and inspires our students to think about the difficult
issues that we, as lawyers, in diverse settings and practices,
confront every day.”
