Remembering Josh Ousley

Josh Ousley inspired others with an indomitable spirit throughout his 24 years despite dealing with the challenges of cystic fibrosis.

Near the end of his battle with the disease, Ousley touched the hearts of his classmates as a member of the Law School's fall 2002 entering class. Following his death on March 30, 2003, Ousley's law school friends expressed their sadness and honored his memory with a contribution to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

"Josh was an inspiration; we were amazed that he could do so much," says Winston Shows ('03). "He gave life his all and seemed to live every day like it could be his last."

Calling his friend the "consummate underdog, at about 5 (feet), 3 (inches) and a hundred pounds," Shows says Ousley would have been the kind of attorney who would have "made a difference for those less fortunate."

Members of the Class of 2005 plan to honor Ousley's memory at their graduation ceremony and perpetuate his class membership.
