W. Scott Welch III ('64), left, partner in the Jackson office of Butler,
Snow, O'Mara, Stevens and Cannada, PLLC, and past president of the American
Board of Trial Attorneys, presents a $1,000 check from ABOTA to Dean Samuel
M. Davis in support of the Law School's trial advocacy program. Welch
also presented the ABOTA Foundation Professional Leadership Award to Sherlock
Grigsby.

Timothy D. "Tim" Moore ('96), left, partner in the Jackson firm
Currie, Johnson, Griffin, Gaines and Myers, PA, presents $250 cash awards
and engraved gavels to members of this year's ABA National Appellate Advocacy
Competition team: James B. Smith (second from left), Sarah Tinkler, and
William F. Longwitz. The firm provides financial and other support for
the team to participate in the competition, which was held in March in
New Orleans. The team advanced to the fourth round, and Tinkler was named
10th best advocate out of approximately 75 students. Team coach was Assistant
Professor E. Farish Percy.

Lanny Pace ('94), center, partner in the Jackson firm Steen Dalehite and
Pace, presents engraved gavels to Brian Lucas (left) and Robert D. Schultze
(right), winners of last fall's Steen Reynolds and Dalehite Trial Competition.
The two students, along with J. Matt Eichelberger and Jeremy McNinch,
received cash prizes and represented the Law School at the national trial
competition held at the University of Tennessee. Lucas and Schultze made
it to the finals. Team coaches were Professor Tom Mason and Professor
Hans Sinha. The former firm Steen Reynolds and Dalehite established the
awards in 1981 and began providing other financial support to enhance
the Law School's trial advocacy training program.
Robert N. Warrington ('88), left, partner at Campbell, DeLong, Hagwood
& Wade, LLP, in Greenville, presents the $1,000 Campbell, DeLong,
Hagwood & Wade, LLP, Scholarship in Law to Carrie E. Shelton. The
award was established in 2002 by the Greenville law firm and is awarded
annually to the student who wins the spring Moot Court Competition.

Wilton J. "Jerry" Johnson III ('75), left, partner in the firm
McGlinchey Stafford, PLLC, presents certificates and cash prizes to oral
advocacy competition winners: $300 to Bradley Flippin (second from left),
runner-up; $150 to Emily E. Cox, semifinalist; $400 to John Moses, winner;
and $150 to Reid McKee, semifinalist. McGlinchey Stafford this year stepped
in to become the annual host for the competition, providing time, service,
and financial support.
